The June 22nd, 2000 update of StockTrac v5.0 consisted of one diskette. This update was for Midas Franchisees only, and consisted of a updated newprice program and a new product code file:
If you want to create the update disk you can download it from this site and uncompress it to an empty formatted disk. This download may require a user name and password, so be sure and call Janco Technical Support to get them before attempting to download any of the files. In addition to the compressed Zip file, you will need the PKUNZIP.EXE program which can also be downloaded from this page. If you have previously downloaded a zip file from this site you probably already have the program on your hard drive and you won't have to download it again.
To download and install the single disk update do the following: 1. Call Janco's Technical Support Line as you may need a user name and special password in order to download the files. 2. The update consists of the following files: Click on the above underlined file to initiate the download (Make sure you have the username and password from Janco if necessary). 3. Specify that the file be saved in your \STCKTR50 Directory. Download additional files at this time if you are creating more than one disk. 4. Click on this pkunzip.exe file if you don't already have it. Also Specify that this file be saved in your C:\STCKTR50 directory. 5. After the file is downloaded, go to a DOS prompt on your computer and go to the C:\STCKTR50 directory by typing CD\STCKTR50 and pressing [Enter]. 6. Have a blank formatted disk ready, and put it in your floppy drive. 7. At the \STCKTR50 directory type the following: pkunzip (space) diskx.zip (space) a: (The "x" refers to the disk number you are creating, one through the number of disks on the update, and press [ENTER], the files will be uncompressed to your floppy drive. 8. Once you have created the disk, install the update as you normally do by selecting StockTrac Utilities| Disk/Tape Utilities| Install Program Update. 10. The program update letter will be displayed when installing the update, or you can click on the Midas update letter to read them here prior to installation of the update.

Click on the above underlined file to initiate the download (Make sure you have the username and password from Janco if necessary). 3. Specify that the file be saved in your \STCKTR50 Directory. 4. Click on this pkunzip.exe file if you don't already have it. Also Specify that this file be saved in your C:\STCKTR50 directory. 5. After the file is downloaded, go to a DOS prompt on your computer and go to the C:\STCKTR50 directory by typing CD\STCKTR50 and pressing [Enter]. 6. At the \STCKTR50 directory type the following: pkunzip -o stcktr50.zip (The -o (minus sign followed by the letter O) in the above command line simply instructs the pkunzip program to replace any files on the hard drive that exist in the zip file without asking you for confirmation first . 7. You may delete the stcktr50.zip file after installing to free up room on your hard drive. 8. Click here on Midas update letter to read them here prior to, or after installation of the update.
